Refelcting on your blog...Q5

Some lighting aspects in a film can create a certain mood. With resources I had there parts that i could not control ligting wise. This class was a very fun class and it taught me alot about amking and watching film. It sucks sometimes becasue I cant watch a movie without criticizing scenses. It was an awsome class, fun experience. THANK YOU DR A.!!!!

Reflecting on your blog

Early in the year, I learned the importance of looking directly into the camera while being interviewed. You can see in my first baler interview film that i did not do this very well. Throughout the entire 14 second film I am looking off the screen and when I am looking forward my eys are wandering off in other directions. On my second project, I learned how to set in points and outpoints for a clip.A scene that shows this well is in the film called "Baler interviews project 2". The entire video is made up of other peoples clips that i had to cut down and then put together to make a complete video. Later in the yaer i showed that i really leanred that concept well since i showed this in other projects. One good example is from "Values final "Honesty DUUUUDE" this video had to be cut alot. I did my nest to cut the scenes right and make them fit. I also learned how to work better with others. I like to have a lot of control over thngs so that it comes out looking its best. Taking this class helped to work better with others. I taught me to listen to others when they ahve input or an idea for a video. Listeneing to other peoples ideas can create brainstorming amongst the group.

Values Final "Honesty DUUUDE"

Values Rough Draft

Reflection: In our values video what im trying to represent is honesty because being honest will give you peoples trust and as a friend thats what you want most. There are a few things that taylor and myself have done to our video. And that was when we showed the clip when we finished off a script we had a shot flaring out to the sky. That was the one we were both proud of. There are still some minor things we need to fix like the edits and we still need to add a few clips but all in all its pretty much complete. One thing we do want feed back is our music, because i know we used it repeatedly and i have a feeling thats too cheesy, needs to be more professional. And one course we went through as a group is being able to make the correct edits. and we concurred it with the help of you Dr. A you helped us out alot and its highly appreaciated. Hopefully you guys love our final video on Values!

Stride Parody Final

Our video is a parody to stride gum. There's nothing much to know about it other than the fact it's funny, at least we think it's funny. So Enjoy!

WAR music tells the story

1. By the pictures we used we were trying to show as story about war. It shows the ups and downs of going off to war and being a soldier. It tells the story of how war can be so violent and then it seems to come to peaceful end. War is something that will always be and seems to never end. That is what we are trying to come across in our video. It is also a salute to soliers for what they have done and what they have conquered. 2. From 1min 43sec to 2min 20sec. This is the segment I am most proud of. In this segmennt we were trying to communicate that even after death and destruction there is always rebrith. In our video we used an image of a memorial and burnt battle ships to show the death and destruction. The next three slides are of a plant growing. The plant represents a new life after war. The burnt ships and memorial create a melow and sad tone. when the palnts come in it is still very melow but it more of an up lifting feel. Id say about 30-35% of our video is abstract pictures. 4. Abstract pictures can comunicate a theme, idea, or mood. Even though they do makle a clear image or make complete sense they can still tell a story. 5. Music in it self can crwat a story in your head. Images are shown to tell story. Put the two together whith abstract opictures it still leaves the person to interpret what is trying to be shown. With abstract images and music it tells a story that is ment to be interpreted by others. 6. The most importnat contribution my partener made in the procees of making this video is pretty much doing it on his own. While I was absent he did about 70% of the project. 7. The most importnat contribution I made to this video was helping to rap it up. I found the last pictures that I needed to help complete the video.

Jabberwocky Stanza 2

We  used the "Bend" special effect best. I think this effect worked best because it made the picture abstract and somewhat unrecognizeable. The mood we were tryimg to communicate was a scary/cautious mood. We were trying to show that the fateher is trying to warn his son of the dangerous jabberwocky.

Thinkin about our final values video

POSETIVE COMMENTS

1. We especially like the shot when the camera turned towards the sky because it was a good transition from leaving the beach.- John and Joselyn
2. Overall, we thought your film was very comedic- John and Joselyn
3. We especially like the transitions –Blanca
4. We especially like the shot of Jose surfing because it showed the beginning of various funny scenes- Anonymous
5. Your group has talent.- Always, Sabrena, Ashley P, Eddie E
6. We rate your video a 9.- Always, Sabrena, Ashley P, Eddie E
SUGGESTION
1. Our strongest suggestion is that shorten the intro. Jacob D and Morgan D
2. Use of dramatic music and happy music would help the rising action, the climax, and the resolution. -John and Joselyn
3. Change the edits a little so it would look more smooth- Blanca
4. You can add to the resolution by showing all three characters having fun. This would help give us the idea that the values in the video were stronger-Jacob D and Morgan D

This post is from Jose, Taylor, And Kelsey

The positive comments that were most meaningful to us were from John and Sabrena. John told us that “We especially like the shot when the camera turned towards the sky because it was a good transition from leaving the beach” and that was helpful because we did know if that shot would be a good transition shot. In addition, Sabrena told us that “Your group has talent” , and that helped us see that our acting was good because we felt that it was “sketchy” because of the attempt on surfer dude accents.
The two best suggestions we got were from John and Jacob. John suggested that we “Use of dramatic music and happy music would help the rising action, the climax, and the resolution” . We agree with this suggestion, and our plan to address it is to make the resolution more clear by adding different music specific to the tone that needs to be set. Jacob suggested that we “Change the edits a little so it would look more smooth”. We agree with this suggestion, and our plan to address it is to do cleaner edits for the final draft.

O.T.S.

We just set up the camera for a over the shoulder shot. We had to set up where each person was going to stand and make sure they dont move from that spot so the shot doesmt get messed up. I dont think that we followed the rule of thirds. I was the camera person and I totally forgot the rule of thirds. It was pretty close it think but it was not in the cross sections needed to make it a rule of thirds shot. Over the shoulder shots put the focus on one person willing showing that they are having a conversation with someone. It shows that two people are exchanging dialogue. It is wierd dialogue to start out with. But the transaction of dialogue between the two seemed pretty realastic. The editing wasnt to hard because my group did a good job of giving enough time before and after there dialogue so the editing was easy. I dont therewas really a dominant tone or mood in our video. Camera positioning is very important to get the right shot. The postioning of the actors and to make sure that when you shoot over the left shoulder of one person you are shotting over the opposite on the other.
